David Hockney iphone drawing

<a href=” “Bridlington Dawn”

David Hockney lives in Bridlington on the coast about an hour from Hull. He has been focusing on painting the countryside around the Yorkshire Wolds on location and on a large scale. I saw this video of how he uses digital media for drawing and was inspired by it particularly the vivid colours and decorative qualities of his work.

About Annemarie Tickle

I am a Lecturer in Textiles at Hull School of Art and Design. As a visual artist I am interested in atmospheric conditions and events and how the scale of nature makes mans mark on the landscape look insignificant. I enjoy the act of doing and getting my hands dirty so my practice is intensly process led. I use a wide range of media but am particular interested in dying techniques.

    Fabulous isn’t it.

Instead of using a mouse with photoshop or a paint programme as a tool, I think you can get these pen and touch pad things that plug into the USB port. Although the actual drawing would apear on the computer screen. Unless the college has a computer with touch screen technology already???

    Good luck,

    Liz x

    • Thanks for the suggestion Liz, it never entered my head to use computers at all but this really made me want to give it a go.
I will ask the illustrator lecturers at work to see if they have any advice. I hope you are getting on ok with your project x
